A life changing book every woman should read. We are cyclical creatures, Hadida teaches us the importance of honouring this.

2. The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho

A gorgeous story about the importance of the journey regardless of the destination, highlighting the importance of spiritual health in an increasingly materialist world. This is one I come back to again and again.

3. Zen the art of simple living - Shunmyo Masuno

100 simple tips for mindful living, beautiful illustrations, lots of white space on the page. A book I like to keep on my desk and dip in and our of when I need to feel grounded and reminded of what truly matters.

4. No Longer Human - Osamu Dazai

Translated from Japanese, a gripping, short and impactful read. A semi autobiographical story about a boy doomed to fail. An excellent piece of writing, perfect for reading on the train if you want to make your journey disappear.

5. Vianne - Joanna Harris 

The prequel to my favourite series of all time Chololat. A sensory experience from start to finish accented with the everyday domestic magic of cooking from scratch, and making chocolate from bean to bar. Set in the seaside french city of Marseilles. If you haven't read the series I suggest you start there.

6. The Diary of a Young Girl - Anne Frank

Emotional and horrifyingly informative; a first hand account of being a Jew in hiding during WWII. An artifact which has shed light on the personal perspective of those living through it. Flawless writing from a girl of such a young age. A must read.

7. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas - John Boyne

A classic tear jerker and a historical insight into the perspective of a Nazi family during World War II. A fresh perspective on the horrors of this time period.

8. Klara and the Sun - Kazuo Ishiguro

An interesting take on artificial intelligence and the thirst for human improvement. A spiritually charged insight into the possibilities of AI.

9. My Year of Meats - Ruth Ozeki

Written in 1990 this novel was ahead of its time, revealing the horrors of the meat industry in North America. An experimental form featuring a bibliography at the end which highlights the many aspects of the novel which are harrowing yet factual.

10. The Handmaids Tail - Margaret Atwood

A unique dystopian novel which encompasses many social issues past and present. filled with quirky similes and insight on the human psyche.
