1. Get clean. Water is purifying not only physically but also energetically, hop in the shower or the bath and wash some of that worry away. Splash your face with water or let cold water run on your wrists if you're short on time.  Tidy your space, bring order to the chaos of your external surroundings and your internal landscape will follow suit. 2. Keep away from reels and Google searches.  Any thoughts swirling in your head can only be magnified by Google searches and accurate algorithms, do yourself a favor and put your phone away for at least 20 minutes and longer if possible.  If your having an anxious few days stay off it completely, only check it when its absolutely unavoidable. What 2025 Taught Me

 1. Lymphatic drainage is your friend  It doesn't have to be a big, oily 10-minute routine. I have oily skin and avoid putting much on my face. You can do a few simple movements each morning after brushing your teeth and washing your face. Pinching the muscle from behind your ear into your neck and tapping your collar bones to begin with, and dragging your knuckles under your chin and cheekbones and down your neck without too much pressure. These simple movements help my skin to stay clear and my face to look snatched. Ensuring you adequately move your body every morning and throughout the day also helps to keep the lymph pumping. The lymphatic system does not have its own pump, like your heart for your blood, so it relies on you to moving your body to get the fluid moving. The lymphatic system is in charge of removing toxins and waste from your body so it is important that you help it to clear itself daily.  2. Nurture your friendships and relationships This year, I left...

Wabi Sabi - Beth Kempton - Book Review

Wabi Sabi by Beth Kempton is a book that inspires you to love yourself, as you are, for every imperfection you have. The book follows Beth Kempton through Japan, where she learns about Japanese culture and seamlessly translates it to the Western mindset.       The cover of the book is what initially drew me in. It showcases kintsugi art in shimmering gold. I didn't know it at the time, but kintsugi is the art of cracked pottery, where the artist incorporates the cracks into the final finished piece of art, adding dimension and beauty to the overall piece. This is what wabi sabi is all about; seeing the beauty in aging and imperfection, lovingly showcasing how each mark tells a story and should be celebrated rather than hidden.           Coming from the West, I was born into the mindset that aging is something we want to fight against, something to be ashamed of; t eaching me t hat there is an expiration date on beauty and tha...

Using  famous people  as examples, from sports stars to the Queen of England, Holiday effectively draws the reader in and gifts them with a can do attitude where anything feels possible. This book is a manual to self-discipline; combining ancient wisdom from Marcus Aurelius' meditations, and other ancient Stoics, with modern day Stoics who we can all identify with. This book is a valuable and inspiring guide to becoming more disciplined in our own lives.        While reading this book, I became aware of the gratification I granted myself through doing the hard thing and showing up for myself. Holiday uses some extreme examples of self-discipline in this book and highlights the drawbacks of such extremism, as well as the advantages. He emphasizes moderation in the book, highlighting that in a balanced lifestyle, there is space for both discipline and f...
